Chief John Schmidt, CFO, CTO (Ret) has spent 39 years in the fire service. He has served in all levels of organizations from firefighter to Fire Chief. He was a team member on the Pinellas County Technical Rescue Team, and Pinellas County Hazardous Materials Response Team and he served on many department committees. Currently he is sitting on a variety of committees serving the Fire Service community. Chief Schmidt is a member of the FFCA Safety and Health, Hazmat Responders, Florida Society of Fire Service Instructor Sections. Sitting as an At-Large Director for the IAFC-SHSS Section. He represents the SHSS by sitting on the following committees: Training, Education and Development (TED) Committee, Safety Stand Down Committee, OSHA Review Committee, and SERDP Committee. Chief Schmidt also sits as a Director with the Florida Firefighter Safety and Health Collaborative, and an Advisory Board member for FCI (Firefighter Cancer Initiative – UM).
