Since 2005, Ken LaSala has served as the Director of Government Relations and Policy for the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC). In this position, he manages a three-person department that represents the voice of America’s fire service leadership with Congress, the White House, and federal agencies. Prior to his work for the IAFC, he served from 1997 to 2005 as a staffer on the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation for the chairman, Senator John McCain. As a Congressional staffer, Mr. LaSala covered a wide range of issues including homeland security, election reform, international trade, and science, space, and technology-related issues. Mr. LaSala was awarded the IAFC President’s Award of Recognition in 2016 and 2023. He has Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland and a Master’s of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Chicago.
