Suzi Washo began her career in Human Resources over 28 years ago, and is a seasoned HR professional with a robust background in labor management, organizational development and executive leadership. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, with a focus on Human Resources, she graduated magna cum laude from Cardinal Stritch University.
Suzi's certifications include Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM- Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), showcasing her commitment to excellence in her field. She also holds a Certified Labor Relations Specialist (CLRS) designation from Michigan State University.
As a member of a variety of HR-focused organizations (NPELRA/WAPELRA, SHRM, World at Work), Suzi has had the fortune to attend numerous conferences and seminars with peers from around the country. Focusing in public sector labor relations and human resources has given her a strong foundation in her field of expertise.
Currently serving as the Human Resources Director at Central Pierce Fire & Rescue since August 2018, Suzi oversees HR programs for almost 600 employees across four labor unions, demonstrating her proficiency in negotiating collective bargaining agreements and resolving grievances. Her previous roles include HR Director for the City of Vancouver, WA, Labor/Employee Relations Director for Walworth County, WI and a short stint as the Labor Relations Manager for American General Contractors in Wilsonville, OR.
Suzi has accumulated a wealth of experience in organizations ranging from 450 – 1,500 employees. It was during her time at the City of Vancouver that Suzi first got to work with a fire department, and fell in love with the work and the people that provide these invaluable services. Being able to work for CPFR, where fire and emergency services are the sole focus, has been a dream-come-true for her. Suzi's success lies in her strategic approach to labor and employee relations, organizational efficiency and decision-making.
