Malcolm Smith, IAEM Certified Emergency Manager and Fire Administrator at Brunswick County Emergency Service, holds an Executive Fire Officer credential from the National Fire Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Emergency and Disaster Management from Western Carolina University and an Associate in Applied Science in Fire Protection Technology from Coastal Carolina Community College. With extensive experience in fire and rescue services, Smith also serves as an instructor at both Brunswick and Cape Fear Community Colleges. As Fire Administrator, he acts as a liaison between county fire departments and government, ensuring compliance and improving fire services through strategic planning and funding initiatives. His career includes significant tenure as a Battalion Chief at New Hanover County Fire Rescue, where he supervised firefighters and managed emergency incidents, and as a volunteer firefighter at several departments, demonstrating his long-standing commitment to public safety. In addition to his professional roles, Smith has been actively involved in various organizations, such as the North Carolina Association of Rescue and EMS as an Area Director and the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Certification Board.
