Travis Ford is currently serving as an Assistant Chief for the Richmond Fire and Emergency Services. He is currently serving as the Fire Chiefs Executive Officer. Before 2020, he started with the Nashville Fire Department in 1985. He was promoted through the ranks and was appointed to the position of District Fire Chief in charge of Special Hazards in 2001. The Nashville Fire Department has over 1300 members in a city that covers 533 square miles, with a population of more than 800,000. Chief Ford also served as the Fire Science Program Director at Volunteer State College for 24 years. He was involved with the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) Curriculum Committee which was responsible for the development of a national model core fire science curriculum.
