Dr. Marc Kruse is the Vice President for Research and Development at First Responder Behavioral Health, LLC. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and completed his clinical internship at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies at Brown Medical School and the Providence, Rhode Island Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Kruse has served as the Psychologist for the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS since 2011, and prior to that Marc was an investigator on multiple federally-funded research projects and directed the data management division for the VISN 17 Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans. The majority of Marc’s clinical and research efforts are focused on working with firefighters, EMS providers, and military veterans with particular emphasis on the assessment and treatment of the behavioral health conditions most commonly experienced by these trauma-exposed populations: impaired sleep, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, post-traumatic stress, and relationship difficulties. He has been involved with clinical research with fire fighters from across the country and regularly consults with departments on the importance of behavioral health screening, education, and treatment facilitation for first-responders.
