Director of Corporate Communications & Government Affairs
Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc.
Bozeman, Montana, United States
Scott Eskwitt is Director of Corporate Communications & Government Affairs at Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. www.wildfire-defense.com (WDS). Headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, WDS is North America’s largest response based Qualified Insurance Resource, providing wildfire loss intervention services to insured properties across 22 states and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.
Prior to joining WDS, Scott was Director of Fire Content Development at Lexipol, where he developed strategies to incorporate fire department sustainability objectives into policy and strategic plans. He emphasizes that sustainability programs are as narrow or wide-ranging as a department desires, ranging from simple energy saving programs to response based environmental efforts, to hiring and retention, and even supply chain requirements that reduce the likelihood of forced labor and human trafficking. Scott’s sustainability work at WDS includes active participation in studies and development of models demonstrating the CO2e savings resulting from wildfire loss intervention activities and how such work breaks the chain of structure destruction by fire and subsequent rebuilding.
Scott's entire career has been a dual track of law and firefighting, including service in line positions and chief of the Fair Haven, NJ Fire Department. His legal practice included public sector labor relations, risk management and policy development for municipalities and their agencies. Scott earned his undergraduate degree in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University and his law degree from the State University of New York School of Law at Buffalo.
