Executive chief officers are often the most visible leaders in a community during a crisis, therefore making Strategic Communications and Crisis Leadership paramount. Executive chief officers must make decisions quickly and explain them clearly. In addition, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA,2020) suggest that executive chief fire officers must be able to identify common communication problems and explain how to mitigate them during crisis. This session will assist the Executive Chief Officer with identifying the skills necessary to assist them during a crisis.
